Elimelech, Tzadic from Leżajsk

Jewish cemetery with a tent of Elimelech Weissblum, located in Górna Street. It is situated in the south-east of the Market Square. There is a building with the Tzadic’s and grave headstones that survived the pass of time. Elimelech (1717-1787) was a local authority, psyhologist, pfisolopher and the creator of tzadicalism theory. On the 21st of Adar (which is the sixth month of Jewish calendar) is the commemoration of his death celebrated under the name of “the Big Day”. On that day dozens of Orthodox Jews from all over the world come to Leżajsk. The tent conceals a stone Elimelech grave inside and two headstones of his son Eleazar and Naftal, his grandson
